Denver Zoo asked us to create a single-operator, life-sized elephant puppet for an interactive conservation experience. Denver Zoo cares for several Asian Elephants in the Toyota Elephant Passage, so naturally, we created an Asian Elephant. 

The challenges for the elephant included wind transparency, creating the “bulk” of the elephant without adding weight, and using sustainable and repurposed materials for the construction. The body is made of renewable cane and recycled coffee bags. The head and legs are all articulated, with the trunk also able to be manipulated by the puppeteer.
