Tour de Fat 2014 Creative Summit!
January 10, 2014
Well, we just got back from the 2014 Creative Summit for New Belgium Brewing Company’s Tour de Fat. It was an incredible summit, and one of the best sessions since we first started attending. We can’t share too many details, but the 2014 Tour de Fat is going to be EPIC!
We have been involved with the Tour de Fat for around 12 years now. It was one of the first major companies that we worked with, and our relationship to the Brewery has helped us develop and create a lot of the major projects that we have done over the years. The most recent, of course, is the Stage Stage!
This year, the Stage Stage will be going to all 10 Tour de Fat stops, with Devil Dan leading the team.
But back to the Creative Summit. What is it? A 2-day brain mash of performance, art and overall production ideas to prepare for the upcoming Tour de Fat. It’s a chance for the Tour de Fat ensemble members, carnies and employees to all meet up and brainstorm some of the ideas that have been percolating since the last Tour de Fat.
This year, we had a stellar group of people at the summit. There were some new faces and a lot of TDF veterans bringing incredible ideas to the table.
The summit this year was held at The Rio Grande Mexican restaurant in Ft. Collins. Upstairs, they have a great event space called the Agave Room, and it was a nice atmosphere for brainstorming. And ohmygod the food. Yum. . .
Day 2 took us out of the Agave Room for the afternoon while we visited the mothership–the New Belgium Brewery. Pete Limbach and Matt Kowal took us on a brewery tour and we got to taste some creative new brews in the Lips of Faith series. My favorites are a tie between the Coconut Curry Hefeweizen and the Paardebloem. Tip: if you want to taste a whole new set of flavors in the Paardebloem, do a tasting of the Cigar City Ale right before. It’ll make the Paardebloem taste like a whole different beer!
We’re going to be reviving and reincarnating some past TDF hits, along with some spectacular new concepts that’ll even get Grandma dancing! ! ! See you there!
